VPA sets new records in Jan

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), one among top five major ports in India, has achieved several all-time high records in January. A VPA official said on Friday that the port handled a record quantity of 7,728 tonnes of steel HR coils with a gang hook output of 1,288 tonnes of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL). The cargo was loaded into m.v. Indian Ocean at EQ-3 on Wednesday duly surpassing previously loaded record quantity of 352 coils weighing 7581 tonnes steel HR coils with a gang hook output of 968 MT of Tata Steel BSL Limited. It was loaded into m.v. Beijing Venture at WQ-2 on June 17, 2020. Seaways Shipping Logistics was the stevedores. Spartans Marine Services Pvt Ltd was the steamera agents for the vessel. “VPA achieved a highest-ever calendar month throughput during the 90 glorious years of Visakhapatnam Port. During January, handled 73,43,936 tonnes (184 vessels) duly surpassing our previous best record throughput in October, 2023,” VPA Secretary T Venugopal, said.
